Sustainable
Stamford, the City of Stamford’s volunteer environmental task force,
in collaboration with the Southern Connecticut chapter of Buildings
Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) has developed a Corporate Responsibility
Challenge to Stamford building owners and managers.
The Ashforth Company
is one of the three owners of commercial properties in Stamford that
have agreed to take part in this pilot program. Ashforth’s
707 Summer Street building will be the first property in their portfolio
to take part in this challenge.
Each property owner is asked for a commitment to benchmark their energy
and water usage for one year, and to adopt a series of sustainability
policies that range from implementing a Waste Reduction Policy to a
Non-Smoking Policy or promoting car pooling and telecommuting.
Once the project
is completed, the participants will be eligible to receive a year’s
worth of free Single Stream Recycling from the City of Stamford. BOMA
will also recognize them at their annual TOBY awards for achievements
in the land development and building management industries.
The challenge will be open to all Stamford and Southern Connecticut
building owners early 2011.
