A.P. Construction Company recently completed two more projects for Stamford Hospital in Stamford, Connecticut. Over the past three years Stamford Hospital has awarded A.P. Construction 16 projects for their internal departments and off-site facilities.
"We value our relationship with Stamford Hospital and are delighted they are confident in the quality of our work so that they continue to choose A.P. Construction as their contractor of choice," said Nicholas S. Everett, Senior Vice President of A.P. Construction Company.
The first of the most recently completed projects included the demolition and renovation of two of Stamford Hospital's operating rooms. There are a total of 9 operating rooms at the 580,000 square foot main facility.
An extensive infection control plan was put in place for the project that required temporary walls, egress doors, signage, negative air and the use of scaffolding to create a temporary exterior stair to avoid conflict with other operating rooms that remained functional throughout the construction process.
Work included new mechanical arms, medical gas lines, lighting, mechanical ventilation and electrical service. Built-in stainless steel cabinets were installed for material and equipment storage. For extra durability walls received Corian® solid surface wainscot with high strength epoxy paint and Acrovyn® doors were installed along with seamless vinyl flooring with an integral sanitary cove base. Extensive audio visual and computer data displays were incorporate into the designs. The architect was Perkins Eastman.
A.P. Construction completed the second of the two projects on the hospital's second floor, south wing of the main building. Work involved revamping its existing facilities and redesigning its Orthopedic and Neurosurgery In-Patient Unit. The redesigned unit includes earth-tone wall coverings, more natural light, a more spacious patient therapy facility and a new nurse's station. A new IT room was developed and the chapel was renovated. The architect was Vincent Babak.
A.P. Construction Company's team included Joe Orlando, project manager and Pete Zeiss, superintendent.
